Reflection: How my brain works
In the past few years, I’ve been getting to know myself, so I can become a better version of myself and be more present to support those around me. This will keep evolving as I continue to learn and grow. Below is my brain profile so far.
Curiosity Driven Focus
Curiosity comes naturally to me, it fuels my attention and joy. When something sparks my curiosity, my brain lights up, and learning or doing becomes intrinsically rewarding, produces deep joy, presence, and flow not because of external goals, outcomes, or obligations. That’s why I can lose track of time, enter hyperfocus, and feel fully immersed in the activities I love. The joy comes from the process of exploring, sensations, sounds, movements, ideas, or people.
Attention locks on interesting or meaningful problems across different domains:
Analytical & problem-solving: math, science, business, coding, coaching (strategy, reasoning, pattern recognition…)
Music: piano, guitar, singing (sound, patterns, expression, creation..)
Movement and physical flow: hiking, ballet, salsa, ping pong (engaging body, rhythm..)
Art: all painting mediums , crafts(hands-on experimentation, creative..) Especially encaustic, it is magnetic to me, this connects to my love of chemistry, encaustic involves heat, material transformation, and layering..
Understanding people & culture: psychology, philosophy, languages (exploring human behavior, mind…)
Once engaged, time fades: I can stay deeply immersed for hours or even days without noticing.
Focus is activated by curiosity, challenge, or meaning: Low-interest tasks feel disproportionately difficult.
